A Different Type of Lesson: Working in the Golf Industry

Picture this: it’s 5:00 AM on Sunday and your ringtone goes off, signifying the beginning of the end of your first-ever major junior golf tournament. After a late night at the office—filled with yelling at the printer and double-checking scorecards—you thought you were ready for championship day.

Well… not quite.

That was me—running on Red Bull (sorry, Mom) and pure determination to make sure my system was foolproof. But, as always, God has a sense of humor. With 40 MPH winds and golf balls rolling everywhere but the hole, I made my first official call: instead of 18 holes, the kids would play 9 in this major qualifier. To put it plainly, my perfect plan unraveled the moment I arrived at the course. And somehow, that ended up being the biggest blessing. The kids qualified, everyone got home safely, and I survived my first-ever junior tour golf tournament. Phew.

My Weekend Lesson?

You can prepare all you want, but don’t be surprised when life doesn’t go according to plan. We are not the authors of our stories—God is. Simple. Let His plan lead you, and trust that what He has in store for you will prosper. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’m writing this for myself or someone else, but either way, this truth remains: God’s way is better. Always. This world will try to convince you otherwise. That following Him means missing out, wasting your youth, or falling behind. But those are lies. Every. Single. One.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." – Hebrews 13:8

This verse has anchored me in so many moments, especially when I get to share it with the kids in our children’s ministry. The joy I feel when I walk into that classroom is beyond words. It’s love. Real, God-given love. And to not only receive it, but to give it—is a privilege I thank Him for every day.

✧・゚: *✧・゚This Week Was Incredible & Here is Why:*✧・゚:

Monday: After weeks of back-to-back travel and work, I had to remind myself... I am a human, not a robot. REST is so important and an underrated remedy. In these very real and very humbling moments, I hold on to Matthew 11:28.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Tuesday: I visited Hayes Middle School with a container full of items that represent my career in golf. I set up my station, ready to connect, and was introduced to my partner for the day, Officer Acosta. Together, we spoke with 8th graders preparing to enter high school.

As the students began opening up, we heard about their dreams—careers in sports, and ambitions to compete at the collegiate and pro level. Out of all the conversations and moral messages we shared, the message that stuck with me came from Officer Acosta himself:

“Make good choices.”

He made sure to say this to every child. So simple. So powerful. And so real.

Wednesday: I hosted our final Women’s Golf & Networking event at the UNM Championship Course. Huge thanks to PGA Professional Adam Roybal and Eric Parr for making it such an incredible experience. Another thank you to Women United of North Central New Mexico for sponsoring our "Drive for Success" series, we could not have done this without you. Additionally, thank you to Jill Trujillo, UNM Women's Golf Coach, for sharing some encouragement to our ladies! I’m very grateful for the women I’ve met, the connections we’ve made, and the sisterhood we’ve built. Two women who attended every clinic and whom I’ve come to admire gifted me a pair of earrings that matched theirs—and honestly, I almost cried. It’s the little things that say, I see you. And wow—they saw me.

And Now, It’s Thursday.

After a long day of work in the office, I am preparing for a 6:00 AM call time for tomorrow’s SCAGA Four-Ball Championship.

And now,

At 23, I never imagined being where I am now.

I never imagined my mistakes would be so public.

And I never imagined I’d be okay with that.

But here I am—grateful, grounded, and giving it all back to the One who’s brought me this far.

Friday: A new day, filled with its troubles and worries—but for now, choose joy. Enjoy the moment, trust His timing, and remember that each sunrise is a gift.
