PGA WORKS - The Next Chapter

Words cannot describe my gratitude each time I step onto a golf course, especially a place like Whistling Straits. Golf has always meant something more to me, but it wasn’t until I started working in the sport that I truly understood why.

As we trudged through the cold winds of Wisconsin, I couldn’t have been happier to experience this tournament from the other side. College golf taught me more than how to sink a birdie putt—it taught me resilience, grit, and helped shape the person I am today. Attending the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship wasn’t just a nostalgic return; it was a powerful reminder that my journey is still unfolding.

Last year, an impromptu speech at the 2024 PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship led me to become the first Native American PGA WORKS Fellow. And now, just a year later, I’m thrilled to introduce Shandiin Harper as the newest Sun Country PGA WORKS Fellow—also proudly Native American. These moments are never just coincidences; they’re chapters in a bigger story.

In 2025, I was invited to speak on a panel crafted for the very person I used to be. If I could offer one piece of advice, it’s this: know your “why,” and let your passion do the talking. Networking and conversation are important, but without authenticity, your words lose their power.

My time at Whistling Straits confirmed many of my “whys.” I looked around and saw a whirlwind of opportunity for the young men and women on the course, and for the future of the game. This tournament is about connection, unity, and the power of representation.

It’s more than a competition. It’s a launchpad for tomorrow’s leaders.

Thank you to the Kohlers for hosting such an incredible event! Thank you to PGA REACH and the PGA for being the leaders of tomorrow. What a blessing to witness the start of something incredible.

Same time next year?
