The Ultimate Sacrifice

Happy Easter everyone and welcome back to my website!
There is so much to be thankful for every day, but today especially as we recognize the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ dying on the cross for the sins of you and I. It is hard to fathom Jesus's suffering and the brutal hatred he endured for our sake. It is nothing but the love and grace of God that we get to experience His love and have the gift of eternal life.
Here in Texas, I volunteer in the Children’s Ministry at my church and am thankful to see the impact Jesus has on the old and young. I work with two-year-olds and have grown fond of spending my time in the church and leading babies toward Christ. Working with babies, it is no shock when you encounter crying, babies wanting to be held, and watching them color outside of the lines.
What I did not know would happen while working with children is the amount of patience I have gained, my ever-growing love for teaching, and the simplicity of learning what “child-like” faith is. One of my favorite parts of working within the Children’s Ministry is taking the toddlers to the worship room. It is an unreal experience seeing babies clap, jump, and sing along (to the best of their ability) to worship songs for our God!
Growing older, I reflect back to my childhood and the importance of Children’s Ministry in the church. Years and years ago on an Easter Sunday like today, younger me decided to dedicate my life to Christ and start my walk with Him. Now at age 21, I believe that giving back to my roots is what keeps me grounded in my faith. It is a reminder of where I come from, what I stand for, and who I serve. I was fortunate enough to have mentors and peers around me that brought me closer to Christ and I believe it is my turn to spread the wealth and encourage others young and old on their journey.
On Easter especially, I think about Jesus and how much pain he suffered accompanied by the taunting that he went through just for us. He could have said no and he could have decided not to endure the grueling pain that he did. Despite the odds, love trumped all and He rose again on the third day!
This verse paints my understanding of Easter perfectly;
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9
Jesus knew the plan and knew that the suffering was for a greater purpose. It is a blessing to truly acknowledge and accept the ultimate sacrifice that we did not and do not deserve! Every sin, every burden, and all the shame in the world was washed clean by the blood of Christ.
Treat every day like it is Easter, and remember and enjoy the ultimate price paid on our behalf by Jesus Christ.
As always I love you, but God loves you more!
Have a great week :)
